We’ll demystify SBIR and STTR grant opportunities\, including some funding programs where North Carolina companies could compete more effectively for available dollars. We’ll also look at entrepreneur-friendly financing options and learn about tapping into university networks to gain an advantage. \nMORE: Speaker & Company Info \n6:15-7:00pm\nStriding Toward Breakthroughs: How a Gene Therapy Deal Came Together for StrideBio and Sarepta\nStrideBio\, a UNC spinout and graduate of BioLabs NC\, recently signed a $48 million licensing deal with Sarepta to work on gene therapies for rare diseases. Sarepta may double the stakes to license technologies from StrideBio targeting 4 additional diseases. \n2019 was a banner year for StrideBio\, including collaborations and licensing deals with Takeda and CRISPR Therapeutics to advance its platform and delivery system\, plus the appointment of an experienced CEO to steer the company’s growth. Hear the story of one of North Carolina’s fastest-growing life science startups\, how the deals were done\, and why these partnerships give hope to patients with a variety of rare central nervous system disorders. \nMORE: Speaker & Company Info

SUMMARY:TECH SLAM N’ EGGS
DESCRIPTION:Live tech demos — brought to you by Flywheel Coworking and hosted by Bobbie Shrivastav\, CEO of Benekiva. \nBobbie has been in the technology field since 2004 and specializes in digital transformation\, process optimization and re-engineering. She is currently affiliated with over three startups and a thought leader on entrepreneurship\, startups\, digital transformation\, project management\, women in tech\, and claims automation. \nWhat: Live technology demos. \nWho: This event is connecting Technology Leaders and Innovators with Designers\, Developers\, and Builders of technology-driven software and hardware solutions. \nWhy: Because we need to convene our community\, share our successes and focus on and support companies with high growth potential. \nQualifications: \n\nNo Powerpoints\nWorking Demos Only\nTriad Focus (50 mile radius)\nAll applying companies will be required to demo in advance of participation acceptance\n\nThis event is focused on live demos\, not Powerpoints. That means that the companies have crossed the “great divide” in startup land between having a concept and building a functional product. \nTech Slam ‘N Eggs will be filled with people you have never met before. Bringing new people into the mix is a critical step in assuring growth and forward motion. But it is the quality of people that makes the greatest difference\, such as technology leaders\, accredited investors\, and successful serial tech entrepreneurs. The quality of the connections is a real-time litmus test. \nOrganizers’ assumption is that the region has deep pockets of innovative technology and talent that can benefit from the cross pollination by bringing awareness\, interest and visibility to data driven and product enabled solutions. They are encouraging organizations to seek local solutions\, partner with each other to solve problems\, and create a thriving tech startup economy.
